Amazon has undergone significant changes in recent months with regard to its TV department. Not only is the company aiming for broader, Lord of the Rings-size hits under a new studio head, but Amazon may drop its signature pilot process of letting viewers pick new series.

Those tuning into Amazon’s reboot of The Tick this weekend were hit with two surprises. For one, the series itself proved much more layered than expected, and second; the season was only half-streamed. Now, showrunners explain why the second half of The Tick Season 1 will premiere in 2018.

Amazon’s live-action reboot of The Tick obviously went over well enough to earn a full series pickup, though fans were admittedly less impressed with star Peter Serafinowicz’s hyper-detailed costume.
