Zoolander 2

February 12 of next year will finally reunite audiences with bubbleheaded supermodel Derek Zoolander in a sequel to Ben Stiller’s 2001 fashion-world farce. Naturally, a film about the world of stylish haute couture advertisements would need only the most tasteful promotional campaign to spread its own word, and in recent months, team Zoolander has been steadily accomplishing just that...

There were three credited writers on the original Zoolander: Drake Sather, John Hamburg, and director and star Ben Stiller. But like so many Hollywood movies, the credited writers aren’t necessarily all the men and women who wrote stuff for the movie. In fact, Anchorman and Step Brothers creator Adam McKay actually worked on Zoolander, contributing some of the most important stuff to the screenplay — along with a joke that was basically too amazing to exist.

Cult comedies that attempt to regroup for a sequel many years after the original film often have mixed success. You’ll probably find few people who like Anchorman 2 or Dumb and Dumber To as much as the originals. But, that hasn’t stopped Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson from returning for Zoolander 2 and, despite the odds, this actually looks really funny.

The first trailer for Zoolander 2 arrived back in August, but we haven’t seen anything new from the long-awaited sequel since then. With the film’s release only three months away, now might be a good time to remind us that Derek and Hansel are returning to the big screen with all the Blue Steel they can manage. Speaking of which, Paramount has released two new posters featuring the really, really ridiculously good looking duo giving some rather fierce face.

The first teaser trailer for Zoolander 2 is currently playing in theaters with Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. It was leaked online yesterday, and Paramount quickly yanked it — but the studio has released the official version online today, and it’s asking some very heavy questions about life, the universe and existence. More specifically: if God exists, then why did he make ugly people?

A lot of people are probably going to groan and get dramatic over the news that Ben Stiller has cast Justin Bieber in Zoolander 2. After all, there are few celebrities who inspire such loathing and to be fair, he is one of the few celebrities who actually deserves that amount of loathing. Let’s be honest with ourselves here, though: no one is more ready-made for the insane world of dim-witted male model Derek Zoolander than Bieber.

That Kristen Wiig is just full of surprises. Last night, we learned that Wiig and fellow hilarious human Will Ferrell filmed a secret movie for Lifetime (yes, really). Today, Wiig has another surprise for us: She’s joined the cast of Zoolander 2 (also featuring Ferrell), and you’re not going to believe what she looks like in this movie. It’s 100 percent outstanding.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson recently popped up during Paris fashion week reprising their Derek and Hansel characters from Zoolander to officially announce production on the sequel. It looks like the pair stuck around Paris for a while longer to do a little additional posing for the camera, as evidenced by these new photos featuring Stiller, Wilson and their ridiculously good-looking faces.

Zoolander 2 isn't scheduled to officially start filming until later this spring in Rome, but it looks like stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson just got a jump on the production. The Zoolander stars showed up in character as Derek and Hansel and closed out the Valentino show at Paris Fashion Week with a walk on the runway.

A sequel to Ben Stiller’s ‘Zoolander’ has been a long time coming. The original movie, which followed the hilariously dumb misadventures of a male model named Derek Zoolander (Stiller), opened in the fall of 2001. 13 years later, work is finally starting to ramp up on the follow-up. Actor and writer Justin Theroux will direct ‘Zoolander 2’ (which should be called ‘2lander,’ for obvious reasons), and Stiller will reprise his role as Zoolander, along with Owen Wilson as his model buddy Hansel and Will Ferrell as the world’s most evil fashion designer Mugatu. Deadline says that the returning cast now has its first new addition in the form of the lovely Penelope Cruz.
