‘Alien: Covenant’ Releases One More Tease Before Tomorrow’s Trailer Drop
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah, Alien fans! After weeks of tweeting out vague images with even vaguer numeric codes, Alien: Covenant has made a new trailer just for you and it’ll drop tomorrow! In the meantime, enjoy this creepy animation of a xenomorph egg opening, complete with that spine-chilling screech.
The teaser video is simply that egg, a callback to the original poster art of the first movie. It kind of looks animated, like it was made from a bunch of separate drawings flipped through very quickly.
This is good news for anyone who worried if the new movie would stray too far away from the Alien mythology. The eggs are back once again, though, which means facehuggers, which means xenomorphs. Hopefully no one will get pregnant with an alien baby this time and have to use any convenient surgery pods located onboard their ship to get it out.
We also know that Michael Fassbender’s returning in android form once again, although with a different name and probably (hopefully) a lot less sinister. The new synthetic, Walter, apparently plays the piano, as we saw in the most recent teaser image. That one didn’t come with one of the number codes, and neither did this one, which could mean nothing. So far, no one’s figured out definitively what the numbers mean (although I have my theory) and we probably won’t know until the trailer or the film itself explains it.
Alien: Covenant also stars Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, Demian Bichir, Amy Siemetz, and James Franco, and hits theaters May 19, 2017.
