It looks like Sir Anthony Hopkins (he is a knight, after all), might be joining the cast of 'Red 2,' the shoot 'em up sequel to the 2010 film about aging assassins.

It was recently announced that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-hun Lee (the recently delayed 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation') are joining the cast of 'Red 2,' Summit's sequel to their 2010 action flick starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, and John Malkovich.

But an even bigger name has been thrown into the mix, as THR reports that Sir Anthony Hopkins (he of fancy titles) is now in negotiations to join the cast as a brilliant scientist locked away in an insane asylum. They haven't specified if his part is a villain or a good guy, but that description could skew either way.

Replacing Robert Schwentke as director this time out is Dean Parisot, director of the underrated 'Galaxy Quest,' proving he has the chops to marry action and comedy successfully. Lately Parisot has been working in TV, directing episodes of the critically acclaimed 'Justified' for FX and 'The Good Wife.'

Little else is known at this time about the plot of 'Red 2' or any other returning stars.
