A new survey sent out to SimCity fans reveals EA may be rethinking the game's requirement to be online when playing.

According to CVG, the questionnaire brought up the possibility of new modes being added to SimCity. One such mode was dubbed "Classic," and would see the return of offline play to the series. Currently, it's not possible to play SimCity unless you are online.

SimCity had a rather tumultuous launch marred by servers that couldn't keep up with the amount of people that wanted to play the game. Despite complaints at the time, Maxis said it wouldn't be possible to include an offline mode without a lot of additional work from the development team.

In addition to the new teased modes, EA also queried users about new gameplay features they'd like to see added into SimCity.

  • Guilds
  • Bus and Street Car Lines
  • Bridge and underpass creator tool
  • Road and city name personalization
  • One-way roads
  • Shared online events
  • Larger cities
  • A subway system
  • Terraforming
  • Co-op mode
  • Import The Sims
  • Military complex management
  • Crime syndicate management
  • A monorail
  • Cultural additions such as new museums

What do you think of the inclusion of an offline mode? Which of the above additions do you hope to see released in the game in a future update?
