Again, if you're a fan of the 'Walking Dead' comics, you knew Lori's death was well on its way once the gang hit the prison, but the show-runners changed it up a bit, having her die during childbirth, sacrificing her life for the life of her unborn child. While most people were annoyed with Lori throughout most of the first and second season, but the end of season two she had become a bit more reasonable and easier to understand. In season three, Lori wasn't the most likable character, but we'd gotten used to her presence and grown to accept her enough that her death at least carried some poignancy, though perhaps wasn't as powerful as it could have been if the writing had been stronger in the first two seasons.
