Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9 Hits Its Kickstarter Goal

Keiji Inafune, the man who brought Mega Man to life, launched a Kickstarter campaign for his new game, Mighty No. 9. In just a few short days, this spiritual successor to the Mega Man franchise has reached its funding goal.

As of this writing, Mighty No. 9 has raised $1,287,437, blasting past its $900,000 goal within just 2 days. It would appear that fans are hungry for a new side-scrolling action game featuring Mega Man-like gameplay and aesthetics.

Mighty No. 9 puts you in the boots of Beck, who, according to the campaign page, is "the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk."

You'll be able to control Beck and run, jump, blast and transform your way through six stages. If stretch goals are met, there could be even more stages in store for us. Beck will be able to use many different weapons and can even steal abilities from his enemies. Let us remind you at this point that this game is not a Mega Man title.
