During the past few years we've seen former 'Hannah Montana' star Miley Cyrus turn from budding new actress to a bonafide star. Now she's older, more experienced and still tackling high school life in her new film 'LOL.'

In the bubbly new comedy, Miley Cyrus stars as high school student Lola (nicknamed 'Lol' for short) who recently just suffered heartbreak and is trying her best to move on amongst the flurry of school, friends and her family. When she finally realizes that her best friend Kyle (Douglas Booth) may be the possible love of her life, she begins her journey through maintaining a romance through the digital age.

The cast for 'LOL' includes Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore, Douglas Booth, Ashley Greene, Thomas Jane, Jay Hernandez and many more. The picture is written and directed by Lisa Azuelos who also wrote and directed the original French version of 'LOL.' It may sound like a strange move, for a writer/director to just up and remake their own property, but sometimes their movie is so universally in tune with our generation that they're happy to see it be translated into any form or language.

'LOL' arrives in select theaters on May 4, 2012. Watch the official first trailer down below.
