It's rumored that a new Mortal Kombat will be coming down the pipes, set to coincide with an upcoming 'Mortal Kombat' film directed by Kevin Tancharoen, director of the 'Mortal Kombat Legacy' web series. The news comes from GamerHubStudios, in their interview with Warner Bros. producer Lance Sloane.

When asked about the state of the movie, Sloane said, "Well, we’ve been in greenlight committee for a while at the studio. We’ve got a great script. And we’ve got a great director with Kevin Tancharoen. Who is on board. It’s just figuring out the business side of it and when we would do it and when we would launch it and how do we sync up with the launch of the game they’re working on now. It’s not 100% yet, but we’re getting closer every day."

The "they're" in this equation would be NetherRealm Studios, the developers behind the Mortal Kombat series and, most recently, Injustice: Gods Among Us. That's not much to go on, but at least it plants the seeds of hope that will eventually grow into full-on anticipation for a new Mortal Kombat series. We'll let you know if NetherRealm announces a new title soon, but for now, all we can do is dream.
