You’re going to have to wait just a little bit longer for the new Shane Black movie (or the new Predator sequel, however you want to look at it), as 20th Century Fox has officially pushed the release date for The Predator back a whole seven months — from February to August 2018. But good things come to those who wait, or at least that’s what I learned from a desk calendar filled with generic landscape photos.

Over the weekend, Fox announced a slew of release dates for upcoming films, including three — yes, three — new X-Men movies, Steven Spielberg’s Panama Papers drama (hitting theaters this awards season, of course), and Steve McQueen’s heist flick Widows. That announcement also came with a few release date changes, some of which were minor (like moving Kingsman: The Golden Circle up a week), but others were a little more significant.

The most notable was a shift from February 9 to August 3, 2018 for Shane Black’s The Predator. The new sequel was scripted by Black and Fred Dekker, and boasts a badass ensemble: Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn, Yvonne Strahovski, Jacob Tremblay and Edward James Olmos. Although plot details are still unknown, the latest installment in the franchise is indeed a sequel — not a reboot, remake or re-anything else that might annoy fans of the original film. Oh, and it’s rated R.

That’s about all we know for now, but given Black’s impressive filmography and that lineup of talent, that’s really all we need to know to get pumped for The Predator. And it seems like we’re not the only ones excited for the film — although it’s hitting theaters seven months later than planned, that shift from February to late summer indicates that Fox has a lot of confidence in what Black & Co. have cooked up.
