It is strongly recommended that you just watch the above trailer before reading anything about ‘Squirrels’. Go ahead. You will not be disappointed.

Now: just what in the hell was that? An SNL skit? A Funny Or Die parody? The end of the world? None of the above! (Well, maybe that last one a bit.) ‘Squirrels’ is an actual horror movie, being produced by ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ director Timur Bekmambetov and Red Sea Media (‘Bad Kids Go To Hell’). This is just a promo trailer used to raise funds, and who wouldn’t want to hand over funds to this movie, which evidently takes a semi-serious approach to the idea of a legion of killer squirrels attacking a small town.

You see, ‘Squirrels’ has an environmental message. It’s not content to simply thrust forward a scenario involving ravenous rodents who bring carnage upon a hapless populace: these squirrels are peeved about a gas company’s destruction of their woodland home. Typical!

Here’s the synopsis for proof that we’re not... nuts (via Bleeding Cool):

When a young man’s estranged father is killed under suspicious circumstances, he returns home for the first time in years to get to the bottom of the mystery. Hoping to uncover some logical explanation, he instead finds his mom’s sleazy new boyfriend, a natural gas company buying up the town, an angry female sheriff who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, and an army of flesh-eating squirrels hellbent on destroying everything in their path due to an erosion of their food chain as a result of environmental destruction by the gas company.

Unfortunately, we don’t have much further info on ‘Squirrels’ at this time. Bleeding Cool notes that they’re currently looking for an “A-list” cast to participate. We genuinely mean it when we say to ‘Squirrels’: good luck with that.
