It wouldn’t be a monster movie without some good ol’ destruction of expensive vehicles, would it? In the climax of the original King Kong, Kong terrorizes Manhattan by climbing up the Empire State Building and yanking down the planes trying to shoot at him. They didn’t use helicopters as much back in 1933, but now we do, and guess what Kong is going to be throwing literal palm trees at in the new movie?

With the success of Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla in 2014, plans were set in motion to bring back all of Hollywood’s giant monsters to the silver screen, revamping the shared universe created with the original Japanese kaiju and King Kong films for the modern day. Kong: Skull Island is next in line, with a March 2017 release date quickly approaching. Fans at NYCC were given cool posters for the movie, featuring a grid map of the titular island with the caption “Bring the Truth to Light.” But there’s a little more to the map than meets the eye.

One of next year’s more intriguing blockbuster prospects is Kong: Skull Island, which takes viewers to the titular home of the iconic movie monster for his first movie in over 10 years. As many predicted, Warner Bros. debuted the official trailer for the film during today’s panel at Comic-Con, giving us our best look yet at the new action-adventure starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and one ginormous ape.

Of the many films Warner Bros. is bringing to Comic-Con 2016, Kong: Skull Island is particularly intriguing — mostly because we haven’t seen much (at all) from the studio’s revival of the iconic monster. WB is reportedly planning to unleash the first teaser trailer in Hall H tomorrow afternoon, but until then, you can check out the first official poster, which depicts a familiar face lurking in the background.

Along with Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Warner Bros. is bringing another major franchise to Comic-Con next week — and it’s one that doesn’t feature superheroes or wizards. Kong: Skull Island will revive the iconic King of the Apes, taking us to his legendary home filled with mythical creatures, and we have a brand new, official image from the film ahead of its appearance in Hall H next week.

King Kong is set to fight Godzilla again in 2020, but the iconic ape’s size puts him at a bit of an unfair disadvantage, and ultimately makes this battle of the beasts seem a little…pointless. Thankfully, it seems that Warner Bros. and Legendary are aware of this particular issue, as it was recently revealed that Kong has undergone a fairly sizable growth spurt for Skull Island, which will give us the biggest version of the classic movie monster yet.

When Legendary’s latest version of Godzilla opened to big box office back in 2014, the studio was quick to move ahead on a sequel with the first film’s director, Gareth Edwards, back to direct the film. But then progress stalled. Legendary announced that they were making a King Kong film, Kong: Skull Island, and that Kong and Godzilla would clash in Godzilla Vs. Kong, provided that neither Godzilla nor Kong’s mom is named Martha. Godzilla 2 was bumped back to 2019, a long time between installments in the sequel-minded world of modern Hollywood. I mean I know Godzilla is really big and moves slow, but this is really slow.
