Joel Kinnaman

Both director Terrence Malick and actor Joel Kinnaman are busy gentlemen these days, but now the two will cross paths as Malick has just added Kinnaman to his new film 'Knight of Cups,' starring Christian Bale and Natalie Portman.

According to Swedish news outlet SvD, Kinnaman has joined Malick's 'Knight of Cups' as a rich playboy type. Little is known about the plot of 'Knight of Cups,' but the film is said to star Christian Bale as a depressed writer on an existential journey of sorts.

Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Isabel Lucas, Imogen Poots, Wes Bentley (but sadly not his 'Hunger Games' beard), Freida Pinto, Ryan O'Neal, and Teresa Palmer round out the cast, which is also rumored to include Antonio Banderas.

And... that's it. We don't know anything else about the film, and we probably won't until production is complete and we get a glimpse at a trailer. Or maybe not even then, knowing Malick's enigmatic ways.

Malick has just completed filming on 'To the Wonder,' and is currently working on films 'Voyage of Time' and 'Knight of Cups.' Kinnaman was last seen in disappointing AMC drama 'The Killing' and Swedish import 'Snabba Cash.' He's also starring in the upcoming 'RoboCop' remake from director Jose Padilha alongside Gary Oldman and Samuel L. Jackson.
