No. 4 — ‘The Innkeepers’

Yes, Ti West made it onto this list twice -- this time for his potent ghost story flick 'The Innkeepers,' a film that follows two clerks and wannabe ghost-hunters (Pat Healy and Sara Paxton) as they work the final weekend at a supposedly haunted local inn before it shuts down for good. 'The Innkeepers' is much like West's previous film, 'The House of the Devil' in pacing, though perhaps easier to digest for more impatient viewers in the first two acts given the chemistry and charm of Paxton and Healy -- in fact, I could probably watch an entire movie of these two just hanging out and being goofy together. But just when you start to get comfortable with the laid-back ghost story unfolding before you, the third act brings an intense gut-punch of a finale that will leave you completely shaken.
