Who can forget the whistling theme from 'The Andy Griffith Show'? Composed by Earle Hagen and Herbert W. Spencer, that catchy, upbeat whistling framed the show about sheriff Andy Taylor (played by Griffith himself) in the small town of Mayberry, North Carolina. Aided by his bumbling and inept deputy Barney Fife (Don Knotts), Taylor used a more level-headed and fair approach to tackling crime in his sleepy town, and the show lasted from 1960 to 1968.
