If you've seen the new 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' trailer, it's the moment that made your eyes almost bug out. Was that really an easter egg hinting at the arrival of Doctor Octopus and Vulture? It was. Let's examine.

About 1:15 into the trailer, a shadowy figure (the same shadowy figure from the 'Amazing Spider-Man' post-credits scene) walks into an OsCorp lab. A voiceover from Richard Parker says in the background, "I have discovered what OsCorp was going to use my research for." In the background, hanging in the background are very clear looks at Doctor Octopus' tentacles and Vulture's wings.

SPOILERS AHEAD.

We've also been told by sources close to the film, that the scene in question is actually the 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' post-credits scene (strange that they would give this away in the trailer, but if you remember, the original film did that as well) and, while not seen in this trailer, also shows the Venom symbiote suit.

So if we're counting, that's Green Goblin, Electro, Rhino, Vulture, Doctor Octopus and Venom. That's six (a Sinister Six if you will). Venom was never much of a member of the classic Sinister Six team (though he did, at one point, replace Doc Ock, but turned on the team and that was the end of that), but if Sony is looking to spin him off into his own standalone film, he needs to be introduced at some point. Remember, Adrian Toomes, Vulture's alter ego, is rumored to be played in 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' by actor Colm Feore, though Sony Pictures officially refers to him as Donald Menken, personal assistant to Norman Osborn in the comics. No word yet on Eddie Brock or Otto Octavius, but actor BJ Novak stars in the film as an OsCorp employee and we haven't yet been told his identity.
