Man, it’s a good week to be a comic-book geek. Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers’ finally opens. Christopher Nolan launches a viral campaign for ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ which culminates in a breathtaking trailer. And Marc Webb teases his upcoming trailer with two new images from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’ Excelsior!

A new clip for Sony’s Spidey reboot is due on Thursday, and should be attached to ‘Avengers’ prints this weekend. In advance of that, the studio dropped fresh stills on the iTunes Movie Trailers site, giving us new shots of Andrew Garfield in costume.

The handcuffed Spidey (second, below) is straight out of the previous trailer. In a minute, Web-Head is going to break those cuffs and take out his captors. I’m more intrigued by the first shot below. Where is Garfield? There are Lizard images and an Oscorp logo surrounding the desk. And Spidey’s costume is pretty beat up. Could this scene take place after the library fight we’ve been hearing about?

That library fight, which Stan Lee teased many months ago, could be showcased in the second trailer, which doesn’t have to spend as much time on the origin story and can get right to the action. Hopefully. Fans need to know that this will be an action-packed thriller ride, and not a complete reboot that’s going to waste the bulk of it’s time re-establishing Peter Parker and his familiar world. We’ll see.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ swings into theaters on July 3, and the latest trailer will be on the site by the end of the week. Stay tuned!
