Perhaps this was always inevitable as soon as the project was announced but now it is official: Original Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd (AKA Ray Stanz) and Ernie Hudson (AKA Winston Zeddemore) will appear in Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters 2020 next year.

Each made the announcement that they were joining the team separately. Aykroyd discussed his involvement on The Joe Rogan Podcast, saying “We’ve got the Ghostbusters movie that we’re working on now and I will have to be performing in that.” Meanwhile Hudson spilled the beans in a video he made for a fan over on Cameo, saying he’s “having a blast” shooting the new movie right now in advance of its release in theaters next summer.

Aykroyd and Hudson join a cast that already includes Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and Paul Rudd, as well as additional returning stars Sigourney Weaver (as Dana Barrett) and Annie Potts (as Janine). The big question mark remains Bill Murray who, frankly, lives such a mercurial life at this point we might as well just give him the nickname The Big Question Mark.

Ghostbusters 2020 opens in theaters on July 10, 2020.
