It’s taken four full years, but A&E’s Bates Motel is finally ready to close up shop with a fifth and final season. The horror prequel drama will descend into its full Psycho origin, Marion Crane and all, now that A&E confirms a February premiere.

Oddly enough, Yahoo confirmed a February 20 premiere for the show’s final year, rather than A&E itself (we double-checked, to be sure). Still, the final year will prove a major one for the re-imagined horror franchise, as the first with Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) in her traditional role as a figment of Norman (Freddie Highmore)’s fractured psyche.

Additionally, Bates Motel Season 5 will also incorporate the most famous Psycho murder, with Rihanna herself playing the role of Marion Crane. The character is likely to end up in a recreation (or remix) of the famous Janet Leigh shower scene that kicked off the 1960 film. Said the showrunners in July:

We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way.  We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.

We might see a Bates Motel Season 5 trailer before long, so stay tuned for more from the final season’s February 20 premiere.
