The Flash is the first DCEU movie sated for 2018, and the first that features a solo superhero after 2017’s Wonder Woman. We know Ezra Miller is the star, since he’s already appeared in character in Batman v. Superman, and will be playing the character in Justice League, but we don’t know anything about the plot aside from that, not even if it’s an origin story or if it’ll take place after the events of Justice League. But the film is already fishing around for cast members, and it looks like Billy Crudup just can’t stay away from superhero movies.

Variety reports that the actor is currently in talks with Warner Bros. to play Barry Allen’s father. Kiersey Clemons (Dope) has signed on to play the Flash’s girlfriend Iris West, and Ray Fisher will also appear as Victor Stone/Cyborg. Dope director Rick Famuyiwa is helming the project, with a script written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and produced the film adaptation, and who is also working on the screenplays for Beetlejuice 2 and The LEGO Batman Movie. Grahame-Smith was actually supposed to direct The Flash, but parted with Warner Bros. over creative differences.

Crudup most recently wrapped production on Alien: Covenant. Production on The Flash is expected to start as soon as this year, with a release date of March 16, 2018.
