Another week, another Blade Runner 2 casting update, and still nowhere closer to learning plot details from Denis Villeneuve’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi masterpiece. But we do have another great piece of casting, as Dutch star Sylvia Hoeks has joined Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and more in the upcoming film. Although her specific role is unknown, Hoeks will be playing a leading role in the sequel, and since it doesn’t hit theaters until 2017, you have a bit of time to familiarize yourself with the acclaimed Dutch actress.

Alcon Entertainment officially announced the addition of Hoeks, though plot details remain under wraps for the time being. Ford will reprise his classic role as Deckard in the Blade Runner sequel, which also features Dave Bautista and Knock Knock star Ana de Armas. Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) is directing the sequel based on a screenplay by Michael Green and original Blade Runner scribe Hampton Fancher. Roger Deakins will serve as cinematographer on the film, having previously worked with Villeneuve on Sicario and Prisoners.

You’re probably unfamiliar with Hoeks, who has few English-language credits to her name. She’s starred on the Dutch TV shows Overspel and Bloedverwanten, and in the Netherlands’ 2011 Oscars submission for Best Foreign Film, Tirza. In 2013 she appeared opposite Geoffrey Rush and Jim Sturgess in the dramatic thriller The Best Offer.

The release date for Blade Runner 2 was (thankfully) recently moved up from January 2018 to October 6, 2017, putting it right at the start of next year’s awards season.
