James Wan is not an exciting filmmaker because he made the outrageously entertaining Furious 7 – he’s an exciting filmmaker because he made Furious 7 and then gladly stepped back to his horror roots to film The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist. So we look upon the first images from the set and celebrate. Wan may be moving into the blockbuster big leagues, but he’s not going to forget about the genre that made his name.

Wan took to Instagram to share an image from the set of the sequel to The Conjuring, which is one of our most anticipated movies of 2016 based solely on the strength of the first film. There’s not too much to see in the image below, but we see everything that counts – a creepy swing set, eerie fog, and Wan himself, looking ready to scare the crap out of everyone:

Although the exact plot of The Conjuring 2 remains under wraps, we do know that the film will see the return of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as real life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine and will focus on one of their supposedly true cases. If you want to dig a little deeper, a quick Google search for “Enfield Poltergeist” reveals a haunting that took place in a English public house in the late ‘70s. We don’t know how closely the movie will mirror the actual events, but feel free to dive in, if potential spoilers are your thing.

Oh, and producer Rob Cowan revealed on Facebook that a priest visited the set on the first day of shooting. You know, just in case any local demons had any dark intentions:

Yes, we actually had a priest to bless our set on the first day of shooting Conjuring 2!!
