Dan Aykroyd’s determined to re-team with someone from his past. Anyone! Since John Belushi’s no longer with us, and Bill Murray refuses to stoop to ‘Ghostbuster 3’ levels, Aykroyd’s turning to ‘Spies Like Us’ co-star Chevy Chase for a possible new comedy. The comedian posted a note on his Facebook page saying that he and the ‘Community’ co-star were about to “start work on a script concept for a comedy movie.”Mmm, do tell...

Aykroyd added, “Cannot say too much about the concept, but the joy of working with him again is one that I am extremely excited about. Chevy is one of my favourite people, and one of the great anarchistic and physically committed comedians in the business.”

Agreed. He’s also pushing 70 (he’s 68, to be exact), so the idea of him being “physically committed” to anarchistic acts seems far-fetched.

That doesn’t mean, however, that an Aykroyd-Chase collaboration isn’t appealing. Both have the potential to be very funny, and I hope they come up with a wildly original concept that plays into their sarcastic senses of humor rather than retreading the past.

Because right now, that’s all these two are being offered. Aykroyd has been wrapped up in ‘Ghostbusters’ nonsense for years now as he tries to mount a third movie. And Chase, though enjoying a stint on NBC’s ‘Community,’ was recently mentioned for the ‘Vacation’ reboot being set up at New Line.

While hardly scientific, Aykroyd’s post has more than 1,300 “likes,” so the masses seem to support the pairing. What do you think? Do you want to see Chase and Aykroyd together on screen again? And if so, what would you like to see them try?
