Are you ready for the dawn?

At long last, Twentieth Century Fox released the 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' trailer, previewing the next chapter in the longstanding 'Planet of the Apes' franchise. As both the rising ape population and the dwindling human race struggle for their share of the world, which will survive to claim the Earth as their own?

Picking up after the events of 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' with director Matt Reeves replacing Rupert Wyatt on the sequel, Caesar (Andy Serkis) struggles to assume his new role as leader of the genetically-enhanced ape tribe while the last remaining humans on Earth are diminishing at the hands of a viral apocalypse, which was conceived at the finish of 'Rise.' As the 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' trailer teases, it's not going to be an easy pill to swallow for either side, as both factions edge closer and closer to all-out war with each other.

From the official plot synopsis:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

Jason Clarke -- who had a busy 2013 with roles in 'White House Down' and 'The Great Gatsby,' and is poised to become the new John Connor in the revamped 'Terminator' trilogy -- leads the human cast of the film with Gary Oldman and Keri Russell, while Judy Greer joins Caesar's ape tribe as his female love interest.

'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' is set for release on July 11, 2014.
