Jamie Dornan Says ‘Laters, Baby’ to Any Future ‘Fifty Shades’ Movies
The Fifty Shades movies aren’t exactly respected pieces of art, and many have suspected for a while that their stars feel pretty much the same way about them as the rest of us do: they just want this whole mildly embarrassing thing to be over. When Jamie Dornan, AKA Christian Grey himself, was asked if he’d be returning to the series for any future movies after Fifty Shades Freed, he shrieked “NOOO!!” and smashed a chair against the wall.
Well, no, he didn’t actually do that, but he did say that if Universal does want to make any more of these movies, he’s, well, pulling out. “There’s no other books,’ he told ITV’s Lorraine, via Digital Spy. “[E.L. James] wrote the first two books again from Christian’s perspective, but I guess we’ve done those films. [They’re] the same stories, so they won’t be doing that again.”
E.L. James wrote two other books in the series — Grey and Darker — which basically rehash the first two books from Christian’s perspective, but those never gained the same traction that the original Fifty Shades trilogy did.
Dornan also mentioned another reason why he wouldn’t be back: “Dakota and I are — particularly me, I’m getting too old for this.” Dornan is 35 and Dakota Johnson is 28, and I suppose anything over 26 is too old as far as the Hot Movie BDSM community is concerned.
Fifty Shades Freed opens February 9, and Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan can finally rest.
