For the past few years Marvel has been exposing us to a series of movie crossovers which culminated into the mega box office hit 'The Avengers.' Move out of the way Marvel, Joss Whedon's already beat you years ago in the crossover sector with his television show 'Firefly.'

Let's take you back to the late nineties which is more or less the darkest part of Joss Whedon's career with 'Alien Resurrection.' There's probably a handful of people out there who love that movie, but for the most part it's the most despised installment in the 'Alien' franchise. Either way, now you understand that Whedon had his hand in the 'Alien' franchise at one point which explains why Weyland/Yutani pops up in an episode of 'Firefly.'

Yes, that's right, 'Firefly'/'Serenity' and the 'Alien' movies are all in the same universe. But wait, where is this?

This awesome discovery is found in the pilot episode of Joss Whedon's short-lived but highly praised 'Firefly' television series. Some fans already know that the crossover nod exists, but for the rest of you who haven't seen this image, check it out below courtesy of Blastr. And if you haven't seen the pilot yet, then do yourself a favor and check it out on Netflix.

Obviously this was brought up again because we're just merely weeks away from the release of 'Prometheus,' but it's always great finding random easter eggs like this. Don't forget that 'Prometheus' will be out in theaters nationwide on June 8, 2012.
