Between his underrated performance in 'Take Shelter' and the scene-stealing one he dished out in 'The Runaways,' there's no denying that Michael Shannon is an acting force to be reckoned with (which Superman will soon find out as he stars as the villainous General Zod in 'Man of Steel'). So any fan of the actor would be giddy over 'The Iceman,' a thrilling crime drama based off real life of hitman Richard Kuklunski.

Michael Shannon stars in a cast that includes Ray Liotta, Winona Ryder, Chris Evans and David Schwimmer. Ariel Vromen directed the picture co-written by himself and Morgan Land, based off the novel by Anthony Bruno.

In the film, Shannon plays family man Richard Kuklunski who lives in a quiet suburban neighborhood but secretly is one of the most notorious hitmen out there, best known for leaving his victims frozen in order to hide the time of death from forensic investigators. After awhile his two lives are in danger of blending into the other as a police officer makes it his duty to find out where he is a put a stop to all  of the bloodshed.

The poster from The Playlist is definitely striking, especially given the placement of his gun. We'll probably get our first whiff of footage sometime in the late summer since the movie isn't scheduled for release until 2013.
