For years, people have wondered if Kenny G, king of contemporary smooth jazz, has a sense of humor. He seems very serious and very dedicated – and let’s be real here, very talented – and that hasn’t saved him from being the butt of many jokes. But was the real joke that Kenny G was in on the joke? Based on his appearance on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, playing along with rapper Warren G, we’re now convinced that the man knows exactly what he’s doing, and he’s relishing it.

Let’s go back: on Mondays, Jimmy Kimmel hosts a little thing called #MashUpMondays, which, yes, mashes up live musical acts that are somehow tangentially related. On last night’s show, he brought together the G’s – Warren and Kenny, obviously – for an all-trilling, mostly-rapping version of “Regulate.” It was exquisite.
