Have you ever wondered where all the crazy ideas in sequels come from? Finally, Key & Peele revealed the secret. This is going to ruffle some feathers in Los Angeles. But sometimes the truth hurts and you just have to deal with it. Spoilers for the inner-workings of the movie industry from here on out.

There is a man in Hollywood known as the “Hollywood Sequel Doctor,” who goes from studio to studio seeding writers’ rooms with ideas for sequels. No one knows where he comes from or where he lives. But he’s responsible for all the best sequels; I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Halloween: Resurrection, Jaws: The Revenge. (Yes, this is all 100 percent accurate.)

Now, the video above looks like it’s a sketch from Key & Peele. Don’t let your eyes fool you. It’s actually a behind-the-scenes documentary. Luckily, Warner Bros. decided to actually film the entire development process of Gremlins 2: The New Batch so that someday it could be shown on Comedy Central. No one knows why they had the foresight to do this, but they did. God bless them.

Don’t believe me? Check out what Gremlins director Joe Dante had to say about Key and Peele’s Gremlins sketch:

“This is G2 people!” I’ll never be able to call it anything but G2 ever again.

Okay so maybe it’s a sketch. But it’s an awesome sketch. Even if we still love Gremlins 2, electricity gremlin and spider gremlin and lady gremlin and Hulk Hogan and all.
