It’s been some time since the first season of MTV’s long-brewing Shannara Chronicles series wrapped up its first fantastical season, and given the hefty production involved, renewal took time. Still, the highly-acclaimed fantasy series has officially confirmed its Season 2 order, delving further into the Terry Brooks world.

No official timetable was given for the Jon Favreau-produced spectacle, whose pilot ranked as the most expensive ever produced for MTV, though it closed the first season at 1.77 million total viewers over different platforms.

For those unfamiliar with the 25-book franchise that began in 1977, the Shannara series follows the titular family hundreds of years after the destruction of our own civilization, whose magical powers “perpetually reshape the future of the world.” Jon Favreau’s adaptation (with Smallville producers Al Gough and Miles Millar at the helm) started with the chronologically second novel, The Elfstones of Shannara, as its first season.

Check out the official trailers below, and stay tuned for further news of The Shannara Chronicles Season 2.
