Nick Jonas Joins YA Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Chaos Walking’
Chaos Walking, adapted from the award-winning young adult sci-fi series by Patrick Ness, is racking up a fascinating cast. Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley will be playing the two leads, Mads Mikkelsen has been cast as the villainous Mayor Prentiss, and today brings the news that none other than Nick Jonas, yes, that Nick Jonas, will be playing the role of the Mayor’s jealous son Davy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jonas’ character Davy is “a young soldier in Mayor Prentiss' army fueled by jealousy over his father's (Mikkelsen) mentorship of longtime rival Todd Hewitt (Holland).” Todd, our hero, lives in on a colony world plagued by a virus that has killed off almost all the women in their society, and a phenomenon called The Noise, that causes all people to hear and see their own and each other’s thoughts. He discovers a young girl (Ridley) who could be the key to unlocking all the new planet’s mysteries.
The script for the movie was adapted by Ness, Charlie Kaufman, Gary Spinelli, Lindsey Beer, and John Lee Hancock, and will be directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow). Nick Jonas has been making a bit of an acting comeback since leaving Disney Channel to pursue music, and can next be seen in the new Jumanji movie and in James Franco’s Goat.
Chaos Walking will hit theaters March 1, 2019.
