Surprise! 20th Century Fox has delivered the first full trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence (not related to Toho’s Godzilla: Resurgence, unfortunately) a wee bit earlier than previously planned. The trailer was going to debut in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this week, but early Christmas has come early, and our ol’ alien pals are back.

If you had “New Deadpool Trailer” on your Christmas wish list, you can go ahead and tell Santa (or whoever) not to worry about it because the Merc With a Mouth has got it all taken care of. 20th Century Fox will debut a new, full-length trailer for the R-rated comic book movie on Christmas Day, giving us the gift of one very profane superhero.

While many suspected that In the Heart of the Sea would perform well in its opening weekend at the box office, Ron Howard's seafaring epic delivered incredibly underwhelming numbers, while The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 continued its reign for the fourth week in a row. That's all going to change next weekend when Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives and completely demolishes the competition — if you can even call it "competition."

It probably wouldn’t take much for a new Star Wars sequel to be better than the prequels, and while we’re all very excited for The Force Awakens, some fans have a vague, nagging fear in the back of their mind that maybe — just maybe — J.J. Chris Hemsworth (better known to some of you mere mortals as Thor) returns for his second outing as SNL host, following the utter giggle-fest that was last week’s episode, aka Ryan Gosling’s Laugh-In. Sure, there are lots of kids and teens buying Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys, but a long, long time ago in a galaxy that is actually this one, Star Wars belonged to another group of nerds — and those nerds are not going to let today’s kids take ownership of their fandom so easily, especially when these kids don’t know that action figures should STAY. IN. THE. BOX.

An unfortunate announcement for those familiar with Rose Siggins and American Horror Story: Freak Show, as the notable actor behind one of FX’s most memorable AHS characters has passed away. The real-life amputee and mother of two was remembered as a proud participant in the Ryan Murphy production as “Legless Suzi,” also documented in Ripley’s Believe It or Not and Extraordinary People.

Maybe you didn’t realize how much you missed Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush impression on SNL until the actor popped in for a surprise appearance during the cold open, delivering a State of the Union address on our current crop of GOP presidential hopefuls — which is essentially just Ferrell’s Dubbya roasting his fellow Republicans in an attempt to make an unprecedented bid for a third term as POTUS.

FOX’s Sleepy Hollow eked by to a third season under a new showrunner, a far cry from the breakout success of its first year, while series star (and its loudest online proponent) Orlando Jones was mysteriously axed from the third run. Now, Jones brazenly admits that producers fired him from the series, complicating the possibility of a return.

The closer we draw to December’s end, the closer we are to new Sherlock in the form of one-off Victorian special “The Abominable Bride.” We’ve seen a few photos to date, but now the lady in question makes herself known in a new Sherlock trailer for the 2016 premiere, veil, shotgun and all.
