An unfortunate announcement for those familiar with Rose Siggins and American Horror Story: Freak Show, as the notable actor behind one of FX’s most memorable AHS characters has passed away. The real-life amputee and mother of two was remembered as a proud participant in the Ryan Murphy production as “Legless Suzi,” also documented in Ripley’s Believe It or Not and Extraordinary People.

TMZ first reported Siggins’ Saturday death of surgery complications in Denver, following a Monday kidney stone surgery that subsequently contracted a fatal infection. Siggins was born with the genetic disorder known sacral agenesis, having her legs were amputated at the age of two, while she’d said of the publicity:

I kind of like the way I am, I would never change it. I couldn’t imagine myself being what everyone called ‘normal,’ because this is my normal.

In addition to the GoFundMe page set up for Siggins’ two children, the actress’ American Horror Story co-stars also expressed their thoughts over Twitter:

Best thoughts to the family, and all those affected by Siggins’ work. She will be missed.
