Corseted Women Kick Ass In ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ Trailer

“Oh great, another Jane Austen adaptation,” may be one of your thoughts during the first 30 seconds of the debut trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. “Fantastic, more British women in bonnets talking about books.” But wait, you totally forgot about the last word in the film’s title. ZOMBIES, BABY!

Burr Steers’ big screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s 2009 novel of the same name takes the elements of the Austen era and splatters blood all over those pretty white dresses. The short first U.K. trailer amps up the violence halfway through as Lily James’ Elizabeth Bennet whips out a pair of knives to slice up some dead monsters. Sorry, badass ladies of Mad Max: Fury Road, but the Bennet sisters are straight up killing in corsetts.

The film also stars Sam Riley as Mr. Darcy and Matt Smith as Mr. Collins, along with Bella Heathcote, Jack Huston and Charles Dance. Lena Headey also appears in the trailer as a possible zombie, spawning the conspiracy theory that Cersei turns into a wight at the end of Game of Thrones. Either way, we're in. The film opens on February 5, 2016.
