Along with some tidbits of new shows and movies coming to us all in the next year, NYCC has also gifted us all with an extended look at Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the sixth and last installment in the franchise that has so far given us five different ways to end the world.

It picks up, as always, right where the previous one left off, and the trailer feels like Mad Max: Fury Road, plus zombies and terrifying bat-dragon things. It looks as if Milla Jovovich, who has played telekinetic, trigger-happy Alice in all six movies, will get a fitting send-off, as this trailer is full of the explosions, car chases, horrifying creatures, post-apocalyptic outfits, and heroic standing-on-top-of-things that fans of the series have come to love.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity's final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began - Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between regaining her superhuman abilities at Wesker’s hand and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and hits theaters January 27, 2017.
