Being from the music industry, Rob Zombie has seen the ways in which music is consumed change over the years. Now, he’s ready to shake up a bit of the norm for how movies are rolled out with a special plan for his upcoming 3 From Hell sequel.

The movie is set to arrive in September, but Zombie has decided to screen the film in 900 select movie theaters over a three day period, with each day providing viewers with a different bonus feature included along with the movie.

Sept. 16 will include a special introduction video from the director himself and the first 50 attendees at each movie theatre will receive an exclusive poster. On Sept. 17, fans will be able to watch an almost 30 minute making of the film featurette. And on the final night (Sept. 18th) of this special event, fans will be treated to a special double-bill of The Devil’s Rejects and 3 From Hell.

“This event is a long time coming,” says Zombie. “The journey of these characters has always been special to me and I am thrilled to finally let the fans experience the next episode of the Firefly madness. This project was a true labor of love for everyone involved and we know we have created something amazing for the loyal followers of these films. Let the insanity begin!”

The idea definitely caters more to the modern viewing habits, where content is king especially once a movie hits the DVD and Blu-Ray market. By rolling out the film this way, Zombie is essentially offering a nod to the hardcore fan.

Zombie is teaming up with Fathom Events for the three-day screening event, which will take place Sept. 17-19. Tickets for the screenings will go on sale July 19, and you can get additional information via the Fathom Events website for the movie.

3 From Hell is set in the same world as Zombie’s early films, House of 1,000 Corpses and the Devil’s Rejects. As with the last two films, the central figures will be Otis (Bill Moseley), Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) and Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig). Check out the 3 From Hell trailer below.
