Take-Two, parent company of Rockstar Games, has filed a few new trademarks protecting the name Agent, which bodes well for those of you hoping to see the spy thriller make it to consoles one day.

We haven't heard much about Agent in the years since it was announced as a PlayStation 3 exclusive back in 2009. There had been murmurs the game had been cancelled, revived, cancelled and revived again, but no concrete info from either Take-Two or Rockstar has seen the light of day. Siliconera however discovered two new trademarks indicating the publisher and developer haven't given up on the yet-to-be-seen franchise just yet.

Both trademarks are for use of the brand Agent as video games, computer games, online video games, and various printed materials such as manuals and guide books. There hasn't even been footage of the original concept, as all anyone has really ever seen is the game logo. Rockstar dipping its creative fingers in the spy genre is definitely something we can get behind, and we'd love to see the devs really cut loose on a James Bond-ian adventure title. When we'll see more of Agent is up in the air, but you can believe we'll be following further developments closely.
