While 'Star Trek' alum Leonard Nimoy made an appearance in both 'Star Trek' and 'Star Trek Into Darkness,' William Shatner, another one of the most recognized figures from days of 'Trek' past, hasn't, but this could all change for 'Star Trek 3.' Roberto Orci, who's been attached to the project for some time following J.J. Abrams' move to 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' reportedly wants to reunite these two buddies onscreen for the third installment.

According to Badass Digest, the script for 'Star Trek 3' has a scene in which Shatner and Nimoy return as Kirk and Spock for the first time in a movie since 'Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country' in 1991. However, only time will tell if this actually makes the final cut.

UPDATE: Responding to the report, Orci made the following statement:

Not in my interest to confirm or deny anything because it limits my options while maintaining my integrity as a truth teller. The movie is not the movie till it is in the theater. Until then, everything is a rumor.

In addition, Shatner gave his two cents on Twitter.

Nimoy already popped up in both J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek' movies as Spock Prime, opposite Zachary Quinto reprising his role as present-day Spock. Does this mean the reported scene in question could also see Chris Pine's Kirk meet up with Shatner's Kirk Prime?

'Star Trek 3' still has a ways to go until it begins production, and few plot details are actually known. Though, TrekMovie.com reports that the film will pick up well into the crew's five-year mission, while Orci himself teased "new discoveries" and "uncharted territories."
