Could Greendale Community College finally get a movie?

Anyone familiar with Dan Harmon’s Community tenure will likely remember behind-the-scenes conflict that culminated in his termination, and eventual return. Now, amid the many airings of grievance around Hollywood, fan-favorite writer Megan Ganz called Harmon out for his abrasive – even intimidating – behavior in the writers room.

The prospect of a Community movie gets further and further each year, especially as its principal cast moves to newer, high-profile projects. Creator Dan Harmon is still actively pursuing a Greendale reunion, however, and may even recruit Fast and Furious director Justin Lin to do it.

Community seems to have become a series we remember more by GIFs and breakout stars, especially as Donald Glover adds so many other iconic roles to his profile. Community itself outlasted him by a season and a half, but as creator Dan Harmon now admits, Glover’s exit was “the death of the show.”

Guest stars are something of an afterthought when it comes to the sci-fi madness of Rick and Morty, but Season 3 won’t be without familiar voices. Not only will co-creator Dan Harmon stage another Community homage of sorts, but Susan freaking Sarandon will also lend her voice.

In a world void of Community movie updates, ABC’s Dr. Ken has steadily drawn headlines with Ken Jeong inviting former Greendale students and teachers for mini-reunions. That prospect will get even weirder with series creator Dan Harmon and star Alison Brie, as the already-meta Community gets its own meta-return.

Long before Yahoo Screen swooped in for a sixth season of Community, prevailing thought had Hulu continuing the Greendale Gang’s adventures fulltime, given their exclusive rights to the first five seasons. That time obviously passed, but a new deal finally puts all six seasons available to stream on Hulu. Hashtag #OneDayTheMovieToo?
