Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 2

Netflix hasn’t garnered as much outright attention with their heavily-financed historical epic Marco Polo, but at least some of that money will go to good use in Season 2. Fresh off Netflix’s original Crouching Tiger sequel film, Michelle Yeoh joins Marco Polo Season 2 for an important recurring role.

Michelle Yeoh is back and wielding swords. Netflix decided to make a sequel to Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (why, I’m still unsure) and now we have our first look.

If you haven’t watched Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s ‘The Interview’ yet, either because you’re too cheap to spend $6 to rent it online, or you were worried North Korean hackers would catch you buying it and share your private emails slagging your boss with the world (I’m sorry Mike! When I called you “a giant goober,” I meant that in an affectionate way, like Goobers candy! Which everyone loves!) you are in luck. As part of their quarterly letter to shareholders, Netflix announced that they will “exclusively” offer the comedy to its U.S. and Canadian customers starting this Saturday, January 24. Sorry Netflix Netherlands! You’re out of luck for now.

It was only a matter of time before Netflix got into the movie business. The home of original programming like 'Orange Is the New Black' and 'House of Cards' has set 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend' as its first day-and-date feature film release, with the movie hitting the streaming service the same day as it hits select IMAX theaters thanks to a special deal with The Weinstein Company.
