The likelihood of Jeffrey Tambor exiting Amazon’s Transparent over sexual harassment allegations took a bizarre turn when the actor’s representation seemingly walked back comments about leaving the series. Now that Amazon has made it official, however, Tambor is not holding back on his grudge.
Amazon’s Transparent is officially down a title character, but not down for the count. Weeks after confirming Season 5 would move forward, Amazon has now concluded its investigation into harassment claims against star Jeffrey Tambor, and subsequently parted ways with the actor.
We knew Amazon was likely to drop a few series in its quest for universal hits, but this is a bloodbath. Not only have Jill Soloway’s I Love Dick and Tig Notaro’s One Mississippi been given the axe, but not even Jean-Claude Van Damme could kick it away.
It seemed unlikely of Transparent star Jeffrey Tambor to return for Season 5 in the wake of multiple harassment allegations, and the actor has now made the decision himself. Tambor confirms his exit from the Emmy-winning series, leaving its future unclear.
The upcoming premiere of Transparent Season 4 may not be our last stay with the Pfefferman clan, but it’s certainly the end of an era. Creator Jill Soloway will oversee a new showrunner taking over for Bridget Bedard from their Emmy-winning oversight of the series.
Wouldn’t you know it – there’s more to Maura Pfefferman’s journey after Season 4. Weeks ahead of its next premiere, Amazon has confirmed a fifth season for its award-winning Transparent, with further episodes due out in 2018.
Jeffrey Tambor might have Arrested Development in his future, but Transparent’s Maura is only moving forward. See for yourself in the first trailer for Season 4, as the Pfeffermans get into edibles and venture to far-off locales.
