It was just over a month ago we learned that MTV wanted to put the Fear Factor in today’s youth with a Ludacris twist, making millennials dunk their cell phones rather than play gross-out games. Now, the first trailer for the youth-oriented revival looks a lot like the old series, because who doesn’t love beds full of maggots?
Let’s face it; Generation Z just doesn’t scare at a bed of worms, or a platter full of yak testicles. Thankfully, MTV wants to put the Fear Factor back into today’s youth, dunking cell phones in water and the like with a revival of the gross-out game show, as hosted by Furious franchise star Ludacris.
Increasingly the Fast and Furious franchise has felt like a superhero franchise. A group of heroes with seemingly infinite strength and abilities taking on the bad guys and becoming a family in the process. It's like Avengers meets the Fantastic Four, but with a lot of cars. With the movies already up to Part 7 and Paul Walker sadly gone, the series can't go on forever. So, how do they continue the brand? Just like the superheroes do: with spinoffs.
Most comedians consider a roast the kind of place where you can joke about anything. Everything is fair game, as they often say. But, a number of controversial jokes about the death of actor Paul Walker at Comedy Central's Roast of Justin Bieber will be cut before the show's broadcast on March 30.
