A few weeks ago, I attended a holiday party where Nick Offerman’s ‘Yule Log’ played in the background for the entire evening. As people milled about the living room, passing appetizers and making polite introductions, the wise face of Nick Offerman beamed forth from the television, taking occasional sips from a glass of whisky and listening to the crackling fire. And despite years spent listening to Mannheim Steamroller and Frank Sinatra around the holidays, it was the silence of Nick Offerman’s fake living room that now sounds the most like Christmas to me.

Although just about every character in The LEGO Movie was delightful enough to deserve their own spinoff, only one truly warranted it: Will Arnett’s hilariously narcissistic Batman. The new trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie expands on what made that character so great, functioning as both a loving sendup and amazing satire of the iconic superhero. It’s kind of perfect.

Aaron Sorkin, Oscar-winning screenwriter behind The Social Network and Steve Jobs, is making his directorial debut with an adaptation of Molly Bloom’s memoir Molly’s Game, From Hollywood's Elite to Wall Street's Billionaire Boys Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker. Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba have already signed on to the film, and now it looks like Michael Cera is throwing his hat in the ring.

Drunk History has made its way around the block, from web series to Emmy nominations, and Season 4 on Comedy Central may be the most satisfied year yet. Not only do we get a first taste of Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda retelling the famous duel, but the first trailer brings a bevy of celebrities from Elizabeth Olsen to Ronda Rousey.

The first teaser for The LEGO Batman Movie was appropriately Bat-heavy and even more delightful than we could have imagined. And while Will Arnett’s narcissistic Dark Knight probably doesn’t care too much about his co-stars, we’ve been anxious to see what some of Batman’s other famous characters will look like in the upcoming LEGO Movie spinoff. Thankfully, the wait is over.

Hey, so remember when Showtime would only ever officially confirm Kyle MacLachlan among its Twin Peaks revival cast, despite the myriad of casting leaks over the last few months? Get ready for the opposite problem, as the official 2017 Twin Peaks cast lists off a whopping 217 members, previously unannounced, new and returning alike.

We won’t have to wait long into December for Bill Murray’s upcoming Netflix Christmas special, the aptly-titled A Very Murray Christmas, but it’s never too early for holiday cheer (especially for franchise coffee). In any case, the full star-studded trailer has arrived, including Clooney, Poehler and more, but not Pope Francis, apparently.

The newest addition to the lineup of vocal talent to LEGO Batman is Rosario Dawson, lending her whip-smart speech to the film as Batgirl. She joins pre-existing cast members Zach Galifianakis as the Joker and Michael Cera as Robin (both sort of dementedly inspired choices, with Galifiankis’ volatility and Cera’s effete softness complementing the characters perfectly).

We know, we know. A few weeks out from Halloween, and already Christmas specials are making their presence known. Still, we’re not ones to question Bill Murray, especially if the first promo for his star-studded, Sofia Coppola-directed Netflix special A Very Murray Christmas lives up to its promise.

The LEGO Movie is a project that consists entirely of inspired ideas, but casting the gravelly-voiced Will Arnett as Batman is probably in the top five. With the character’s spin-off in the works, the inspired casting continues! It seems that the soft-spoken Michael Cera is set voice Robin in LEGO Batman.
