With a $229 million international box office haul, Paul Feig's modestly budgeted comedy 'The Heat' isn't just one of the biggest hits of 2013, it's the biggest film yet for stars Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Unfortunately, Sandra Bullock said 'The Heat 2' isn't going to happen, but we may get something else entirely. Are you ready for a spin-off featuring two of the film's supporting characters?

According to Deadline, Feig and 20th Century Fox are developing a spin-off for Jessica Chaffin and Jamie Denbo, who appeared in 'The Heat' as two members of McCarthy's cop character's trashy extended family. Although they're very small supporting roles, the two showcased a comedic energy and chemistry that struck a chord with Feig, who thinks the two comediennes are ready for the spotlight. Here's what he had to say about them:

Jamie and Jessica are two of the funniest people on this planet. They took small roles in The Heat and turned them into characters worthy of their own movie. I can’t wait to unleash Beth and Gina on the world. Run for your lives.

The script is currently being written by relative newcomer Tracy McAlpin, but the story is still being nailed down as we speak. Between 'The Heat' and 'Bridesmaids,' Feig now has enough clout to do pretty much whatever he wants for a little while, so expect this project to actually move forward. Chaffin and Denbo may not be particularly big names, but their producer has the golden touch. If anyone can make them stars, it's him.
