Though we learned that Jessica Biel is officially out for the part of Viper in the upcoming 'Wolverine' movie, Fox hasn't given up the search that easily. The studio is now in talks with Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova for the role.

According to Twitch, Fox is looking to close a deal with Khodchenkova relatively quickly, since just last week Jessica Biel shot down their offer to star alongside Hugh Jackman.

'The Wolverine,' the sequel to 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' (keeping it simple), is set to shoot in August in Australia and Japan. The film follows Logan/Wolverine as he heads to Japan and clashes with sword-wielding bad guys.

The character of Viper is described in the comics as someone of unspecified Eastern European descent. She was raised and trained by HYDRA (Red Skull's pals in 'Captain America') and first appeared as a foe to 'The Avengers.' In 'X-Men' canon, Viper attempted to assassinate Mariko Yashida (who will also appear in the film) in the name of her lover, the Silver Samurai.

Khodchenkova is relatively unknown here in the States, though you might recognize her from her work last year in 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.' But what do you think? Will this potential new role for her turn Khodchenkova into a house-hold name?
