‘Underworld’ TV Series Still in Development, If You Were Wondering
Like all movie franchises losing steam over time, the impressively enduring Underworld was bound for the TV treatment at some point or another. Producers did have in mind to craft a series back in 2012, to complement the fifth film due out later this year, and now Len Wiseman offers an update.
Lest you think that Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman would deprive the world another excuse for leather-clad vampires to shoot at CG werewolves, the Underworld franchise helmer spoke to Collider of the long-developed series. In short? Don’t hold your breath:
Yes, there’s been a lot of conversations and even development on what that series would be. It’s really appropriate for television, in terms of how those characters can really tie in, but also become something new. It’s really an attractive space. I don’t want to put a date on it because then that’s going to be printed and it might not happen in that timeframe, but it is a thought.
In the meantime, Underworld: Next Generation is still due out later this fall, but is the franchise overall better served with a TV approach?
