Before 'The Fault in Our Stars,' before 'Divergent,' Shailene Woodley filmed a small film from director Gregg Araki called 'White Bird in a Blizzard,' another coming-of-age tale for the actress. Though our critic had her own issues with film when she saw it at Sundance, a new trailer has debuted, and it's always great to see the lovely Eva Green smoldering up the screen.

While 'The Spectacular Now' certainly brought a few tears to audiences' eyes, the 'White Bird in a Blizzard' trailer shows a slightly darker story for Woodley, combining the angst of coming into one's own sexuality with the loss of a parent. Green, who received praise for her turns in '300: Rise of an Empire' and 'Sin City 2,' portrays the mother of Woodley who unceremoniously vanishes, leaving her daughter to navigate adolescence by herself.

Here's more specific information:

Kat Connors is 17 years old when her perfect homemaker mother, Eve, a beautiful, enigmatic, and haunted woman, disappears - just as Kat is discovering and relishing her newfound sexuality. Having lived for so long in a stifled, emotionally repressed household, she barely registers her mother's absence and certainly doesn't blame her doormat of a father, Brock, for the loss. In fact, it's almost a relief. But as time passes, Kat begins to come to grips with how deeply Eve's disappearance has affected her. Returning home on a break from college, she finds herself confronted with the truth about her mother's departure, and her own denial about the events surrounding it...

'White Bird in a Blizzard' also stars former 'Law & Order: SVU' and 'True Blood' star Christopher Meloni, Thomas Jane, 'American Horror Story' stars Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe, and Shiloh Fernandez of 'Evil Dead.' The film will hit On Demand on September 25 before hitting theaters on October 24.
