Now that Seth MacFarlane is officially and thankfully(?) out of the picture, a new frontrunner for the 2014 Oscar ceremony has emerged. Are you ready to see late night's Jimmy Kimmel take the stage?

The new buzz floating around is that the host of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' is the current frontrunner, as ABC has been lobbying hard for him to get the job. Apparently, his post-Oscar ratings at last year's show were strong enough to put him into serious consideration.

Kimmel may sound like an odd choice to host the Academy Awards since he's been a TV guy for his entire career, but this wouldn't be the first time that a late night show host has nabbed the gig. David Letterman hosted back in 1995 and 'The Daily Show's' Jon Stewart has emceed in recent years. We've seen what move stars like Anne Hathaway and James Franco do when they host the ceremony (they bomb), so the best person for the job may be a guy who spends five days a week performing for a live audience.

With over 1,700 episodes of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' under his belt, Kimmel has plenty of experience at being the face and voice of a show. Being an Oscar host requires you to think on your feet, keep a crowd entertained, have a thick skin and power through some serious rough patches. If there's anyone fit for this, it's Kimmel. Not to mention, he's already cut his teeth hosting the Emmys, so he's ready for this.

What do you think? Do you think he's a good match to host the Oscars? If not, who do you want to see take the job?
