You can all stop clutching your pearls: Seth MacFarlane has announced that he will not be returning to host the Oscars next year, but he does have a rather hilarious replacement in mind.

Seth MacFarlane was one of the most divisive Oscar host in recent memory, and whether you enjoyed him playing host at the prestigious awards ceremony this year or not, we can all agree that having a host stir up some controversy is much better than having a host (or two -- looking at you James Franco and Anne Hathaway) that bores us to death.

But regardless of how you felt about his performance, it doesn't seem to matter much now: MacFarlane took to Twitter to reveal that he will not be returning to host the ceremony in 2014:

"Traumatized critics exhale: I'm unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep. However, I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix."

Love him or hate him, MacFarlane sort of nails it with his suggestion for next year's host, though it would be even better if they got the Joaquin Phoenix from 'I'm Still Here.'
