We knew that an adaptation of '50 Shades of Grey' probably wouldn't be as explicit as the book on which it's based, even though the book is hardly as sexy as your mom insists it is between sips of boxed wine. And the first trailer didn't do much to convince us of the supposed sexiness, either. A new report indicates that the film is currently undergoing reshoots due to a rumored lack of chemistry between leads Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. So yeah, maybe that's it.

The rumor comes from The Daily Mail, so it might be a bit overblown, but it does appear that '50 Shades of Grey' is in the process of reshoots ahead of their February release. For what reasoning? It could be something simple, like additional footage to help pad Anastasia and Christian's toxic relationship and make them more relatable. It could be a new scene created for the film to set-up a possible sequel, should this one be the hit Universal hopes it will be. According to the Mail's sources, it's a lack of chemistry between the stars:

'Dakota isn't coming off sexy enough' said a second source. 'Ana needs to be naive, not a dish-rag'

Why does it have to be the woman's fault, huh? Maybe Jamie Dornan is a dish-rag. The film follows a naive young woman named Anastasia who falls for a billionaire named Christian Grey with a proclivity for BDSM. He then persuades her to sign a contract, essentially signing over control of her personal and sexual life to him. You know, just like those Taylor Swift songs.

The book itself is not nearly as scandalous and sexy as the commotion surrounding it, and the trailer does little to indicate that the film will be that explicit. But maybe these supposed reshoots will add a little somethin' somethin'. Or Universal saw that 'Avengers 2' trailer and got real worried. Everyone knows that robots are real sexy.

'50 Shades of Grey' also stars Jennifer Ehle, Marcia Gay Harden, and Luke Grimes, and hits theaters on February 13, 2015.
